BOUQUET TRAINER

The Bouquet Trainer is designed to accompany the daily endeavors of the modern individual.

Through merging traditional Italian shoemaking craftsmanship with a forward-thinking design perspective, it embodies both timelessness and innovation.

I wanted Bouquet to feel almost like a living organism, something that breathes, with a presence and a soul.

The name is derived directly from its design language: the center of the toe acts as a stem, leaves wrap around the body of the shoe, and the central panels, eyestay, and tongue function as petals, layering over one another to create depth and dimension rather than a purely surface-level display.

DESIGN PROCESS

When bringing the concept to life I primarily focused on creating a low profile design that was comfortable yet felt luxurious over time.

What initially began as a laced concept moved into an elastic closure for ease of entry as well as creating a sense of minimalism.

PATTERN DEVELOPMENT

To create a product that would last the test of time would come down into the construction of the shoe and the materials.

When developing the pattern I kept the material down to two fabrics, premium calfskin leather that ages well with wear, and open cell neoprene fabric to keep the foot ventilated.

I implemented stitch and turn construction on the toe and heel portions of the shoe, creating a luxurious feel and ensuring the stitches do not fray on the areas of wear.

3D DEVELOPMENT / PATTERN

Before sending the technical package overseas, I decided to create the first prototype myself to reduce the time spent developing the product.

This included patternmaking and revisions which allowed me to fully communicate with the factories and ensure my vision would be accurately carried through.

I developed the first two samples myself [Black laced & Silver laced] from patternmaking to sewing and constructing the actual shoes itself.

Due to this, I only needed to revise the sample they sent to us twice before finalizing the product.

Meticulous stitch-and-turn engineering at the heel and toe ensures durability against abrasion while preserving a refined silhouette. The upper is crafted from premium calfskin leather for lasting strength, complemented by a quarter panel in breathable open-cell neoprene. A calfskin-lined heel molds naturally to the foot, minimizing wear and preventing tearing over time.

The low-profile midsole offers a grounded, stable feel, while the elasticated opening adapts with each wear, shaping itself to the wearer for a truly personal fit. With its balance of materials, construction, and beauty, the Bouquet Trainer is a flower not meant to wilt.
